Ronnie L. Vickers

Ronald L. Vickers, son of the late Maynard L. (Bub) Vickers and Ada J. Horne Vickers, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.
A graduate of Chesnee High School, he earned an A.B. degree in business from Cecil’s Business College where he was Student Government President. He earned a B.A. degree in Social Studies from Limestone University and his M.Ed. in education degree from the University of South Carolina and Converse College. He continued his post graduate studies in animal behavior and marine biology at USC. He was currently employed at his family business, Vickers Auto Parts, as Vice-President and as accountant. He was a retired teacher having taught in Spartanburg District Six at Fairforest Elementary School for two years and twenty-six years at Fairforest Middle School. He loved teaching. He was twice elected as “Teacher of the Year” and was named “Who’s Who” among American Teachers.
He was a Christian and a lifelong member of Chesnee Wesleyan Church where he has served as church treasure and building fund director. He was presently attending First Baptist of Chesnee. He enjoyed visiting Edisto Island, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.
He is survived by his brother, Dennis Vickers (Vickie) and sisters, Lori Vickers, Lisa Sperling Churchill and Lane V. Cash (Tim) all of Chesnee. Also surviving are nephews Jesse Sperling, Jacob Sperling, Trevor Cash and Talon Cash and nieces Julie Vinesett (Jeff), Jada Churchill, Tori Cash, Addie Vinesett and Layla Vinesett.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his longtime companion, Mary Randolph.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Chesnee First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Monty King and Dr. Gary J. Grogan officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
