Robert Chrisley “Chris” McKinney, 70, husband of Michele Zito McKinney, Passed away in his Spartanburg home, Saturday, November 7, 2020, after an illness. He was born on October 20, 1950, in Morganton, North Carolina, to the late Wade Hampton and Helen Mozell Bates McKinney. He was a resident of Spartanburg the past 29 years. Mr. McKinney received his bachelor’s in Religion from High Point College and did further studies receiving a Master’s in Theater from the University of North Carolina. In his working years he was a codes enforcer 20+ years with Spartanburg County. He also was the Artistic Director for Spartanburg Little Theater and Technical Director for Ballet Spartanburg for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Michele of Spartanburg, son; Matthew Geoffrey of Spartanburg, Brothers and sisters in law; Ronalds Bates and Teresa McKinney of Spartanburg, David Randall and Cheryl McKinney of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Richard Steven and Dorothy McKinney of Greensboro, North Carolina and sister; Mary Patricia McKinney of Front Royal, Virginia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother; William Warner McKinney.
As a result of Covid-19 directives and restrictions, the family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
