Philip Alton Snyder Simpsonville, SC (1961-2017) Philip Alton Snyder was born July 16, 1961 and died August 15, 2017. He was the youngest son of the late J. Wesley Snyder, Sr. and Rachael Hicks Snyder. He had two sons, Philip Miller Snyder of Charlotte, North Carolina and James Bonner Snyder of Greenville, South Carolina. Phil graduated from Southside Christian School in 1979 and The Citadel in 1983. He never missed a Citadel home game and those who knew him best knew his blood ran blue. He served as the president of Snyder’s Motor Company in Spartanburg for 21 years. He was the past president of The Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg. Phil was a communicant of Christ Church where he engaged in his passion of coaching church basketball. Phil was a kind and compassionate friend who never met a stranger. No one who ever played golf with him ever scored higher than a double bogey. Phil was the youngest of five children. He will be greatly missed by his family including his siblings James Wesley Snyder, Jr. (Susan), Sharon Snyder Baker (Paul), Richard Lewis Snyder, and Beverly Snyder Cormican (John) and his nieces and nephews, Carmen Snyder, Jordan Mancini, Wesley Snyder, Ben Snyder, Jonathan David Baker, Keri Graves, R.J. Snyder, Rachael Cormican and Samuel Cormican, and girlfriend Katrina Belcher. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N Church St, Greenville, SC 29601. The family will receive friends following the service at the church . In lieu of flowers a donation to The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409 would be appreciated.
