Mary Delilah Becknell

Spartanburg, South Carolian

Mary Delilah Becknell, 94 years old, widow of Douglas Becknell, (2016), passed away Thursday morning, July 18, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born on February 25, 1930, in Whitney, South Carolina, to the late Robert Gallman and Colleen Faucette Gallman. In her working years she was employed by Murphy Cadillac and Pontiac and thereafter, the Country Club of Spartanburg where she had been a bookkeeper/secretary. She was a lifelong member of Liberty United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her niece, Diane Henderson of Chesnee, great-nephew, John Dean of Chesnee and several nieces and nephews on the Becknell side of the family.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mary Dee will be held at Liberty United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm with former Pastor Andrew Wolfe officiating

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Liberty United Methodist Church, 2095 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29303.
