Union Mills, NC

Larry Joe Scruggs, age 64, of Union Mills, NC, went Home to be with Jesus Monday, November 25, 2024, at Mission Hospitals in Asheville.

A native of Spartanburg County, Larry was the son of the late Paul and Edna Scruggs. Larry tried to live his life to be the hands and feet of Jesus in all things he did. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church; he loved his church family tremendously. Larry's family was his entire world, his love for each of them was unmeasurable, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years of a happy marriage, Lisa Scruggs, his daughter,

Melissa Porter and her husband Big Boy, three grandchildren, Alyssa Stephens and her husband Dusty, who was like a son to Larry, Charles "Chucky" Porter, and Emma Nicole Porter, and five great-grandchildren, Dawn, CJ, Tavion, Emory Rayne, Emerson Joe, and one on the way.

A family directed celebration of life will be at Mountain Creek Baptist Church at 4:00 PM, Friday, November 29, 2024, with Reverend Brian Blanchette officiating. In accordance with Larry's wishes there was only a family viewing.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Larry to Mountain Creek Baptist Church Red Bird Food Pantry; 710 Mountain Creek Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
