Kathy Blalock Hord, 81, widow of Paul Mallory Hord, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born March 5, 1942, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roy Leon Blalock and Bessie Parris Buckner Blalock. She was first employed as an English and Latin teacher at Jenkins Junior High School and Chesnee High School and then later as an English teacher at Boiling Springs High School. She retired in 2000 after 26 years at Chesnee High School as the Library Media Specialist. She was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church where she taught the Friends in Christ Sunday School Class for 55 years.  She also taught GA’s, Training Union, and Vacation Bible School.

Surviving is her daughter, Paula K. Hord of Chesnee, SC; niece, Sherry Hulsey (Chuck) of McDonough, GA; nephews, Michael Burnett (Genie) of Cumming, GA and Todd Burnett of Hampton, GA; 1 great-niece; 2 great-great-nephews; 2 great-great-nieces; 1 great-great-great-nephew; her best friend, Faye Howard of Spartanburg, SC; and her second daughters, Sharon Hollifield and Margaret M. McKinney of Chesnee, SC. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Blalock Burnett, and her Angel Fur Baby Rascal.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Arrowwood Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Larry Fleming and Dr. Chris Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, SC.

Friends in Christ Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
