Johnny Roland Blanton, 93, widower of Rebecca Morris “Beck” Blanton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Wesley Court Assisted Living.

Born January 6, 1930 in Chesnee, he was a son of the late Roland Gibson Blanton and Amy Hughey Blanton. He was formerly employed with Daniel Construction; Reeves Brothers Mill was a farmer and a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.  Johnny was one of the hardest working men until his health did not permit him to be in his barn or on his tractor; there was nothing he couldn’t build or do if he set his mind to it. After his “retirement” from farming he got his second wind as socialite at Wesley Court Assisted Living where he could be found roaming the halls, making his hot pads, or still doing anything he could with his hands. Even until his last days he still had the same Johnny Blanton grin he always had. He has always been the favorite uncle of our family and he was the last one of his siblings.

Surviving are his daughters; Linda Hollifield of Gaffney and Debby Robinson of McLean VA. and Chesnee.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Ernestine Emory, Sarah Wall, Eugenia Humphries; brothers, James Blanton, Alfred Dean Blanton, Harold Blanton, Charles Dupre “Skinner” Blanton and a son-in-law, Rev. Billy Hollifield.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Buck Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Jason Metcalf and Dr. Jerry White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Scott Scrimpsher and Rev. Allen Dean Blanton officiating.

Those who would like to participate in the family/community choir for the service is ask to meet at the church by 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Wesley Court Activities Fund, 916 Wesley Ct, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.

The family is at the home of his daughter Debby, 326 Shoreview Drive Chesnee, SC 29323
