Joe Ellis Lawter, 66, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Wednesday, June 7, 2017.
He was the son of the late Vernon Lawter and Gladys Godfrey Lawter. He was retired from Auriga-Polymers after 43 years of service. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, He loved Christian broadcast, gospel music and classic movies. He also enjoyed fishing and playing church softball.
Joe was a man of great integrity and work ethic, intelligent, with a quick wit and a very kind and gentle nature. He fought the good fight and is now with his daughter in glory. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather. Joe lived a life of sacrifice for his family.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Peggy Lewis Lawter of the home; sisters, Joyce Powell of Boiling Springs, Kathy Sanford and Vickie Palmer both of Spartanburg; grandson, Joseph Miller of Spartanburg and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his only child, his daughter Shanna Lawter Miller.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Moore with Rev. James Oliver and Rev. Kenneth Cash officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
