Janet Mahaffey Smalley, 83, widow of Climeth “Jake” Smalley, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Regional Hospice Home.

Born August 7, 1939 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Tollie L. Mahaffey and Bernice Roach Mahaffey. She was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are her daughters, Donna Owens of Chesnee, Susan Jennings (Ralph) of Chesnee; brother, Bruce Mahaffey of Chesnee; grandchildren, Jay Owens, Chris Owens (Tammy), R.J. Jennings; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Roland Smalley (Sarah), Ann Mason, Pauline McCarn, Gene Hawkins, Rose Hudson (Wilbur); nieces and nephew, Carole Walker, Leslie Freshour, Jeremy Mahaffey and special cousins, Zella Cooper and Renee Roach.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Jerry Levon Smalley.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Sandy Springs Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey and Rev. Terrill Dillingham officiating.
