James Benjamine Scruggs, 79, passed away the morning of November 5, 2024, in his Chesnee home after a long illness. 

James was born on November 7, 1944, in Cooley Springs, to the late Luther and Gertrude Alice Steadman Scruggs. He was a former restaurant refrigeration repairman for many fast-food restaurants, was the former owner of Highway 11 Restaurant, and a member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his present wife, Rebecca Ann Scruggs of Chesnee, daughter, Judi Wallace of Hemmingway, SC., son, Garry Moore (Kathy) of Chesnee, adopted daughter, Julie McKinney of Chesnee, brother, Eugene Scruggs of Spartanburg, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his previous wife, Betty Dean Lawter Scruggs.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024 in the chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary with Rev. Garold Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum.
