Nanny Irene Hawkins, 74, wife of Eugene Hawkins passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her home.
Born December 7, 1946 in Green Creek, NC., she was a daughter of the late Don C. Smalley and Violet Splawn Smalley. She was retired from Mayfair Mills after 23 years where she won Super Doffers in 1971 out of all mills and she was the only woman. She was member of Fingerville First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School for 19 years and was also a Bible Study Teacher. Her love in life was taking care of children, no matter who they belonged to.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her son, Donald Eugene Hawkins (Sandra) of Boiling Springs; a very special nephew, Ronnie Smalley (Tonya) of Wellford; sisters, Ann Mason of Boiling Springs, Pauline McCarn of Chesnee, Rose Hudson (Wilborn) of Chesnee; brother, Rev. Ronald Smalley (Sara) of Spartanburg; sisters-in-law, Janet Smalley and Martha Turner both of Chesnee; two grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by bothers, Don Smalley Jr, Roy Smalley, Albert Smalley, Clyde Smalley, Jake Smalley, Paul Smalley and Roger Smalley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Fingerville First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Andy Case, Rev. Jimmy Cox and Rev. Ronald Smalley officiating. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic it is requested that masks and social distancing be practiced during the visitation and funeral service.
