Howard Earl "Skip" Eklund

Boiling Springs, South Carolina

Howard E. “Skip” Eklund, 74 years, husband of 31 years to Margaret Elizabeth Eklund, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. Skip was born in the State of Illinois. After graduating from high school, he enlisted with the United States Army for 6 years during the Vietnam era and came out a disabled veteran. Thereafter, he was employed a number of years with Tezza Tile where he was the warehouse manager.

Surviving him are his wife Margaret of Boiling Springs, daughters, Melissa Eklund of Canada, Cari Claycomb (Cory) of Colorado, Tammy Heroin of Colorado, Regina Wease (Dale) of Boiling Springs, Angela Griffin (Tim) of Spartanburg, son. James McCray (Wendy) of Simpsonville, sisters, Janice Hasting (Jim), Janet Groves (Ray), Patty Sue Eklund, brothers, Dave Eklund (Cathy), Billy Eklund, Morris Eklund, grandchildren, Dusty Walker (Danielle), Chance Nordstrom, Richard Carter (Sara), Brandon McCray, Hannah Walker, Angelina and Vanessa Salvati, Ashley Dawson (Wyatt), great-grandchildren. Bailey and Tanner Dawson, Isabella and James Carter and many loved nieces and nephews. 

He was a member of the American Legion Post 48 and was awarded a Quilt of Valor on November 20, 2018. He loved his God and enjoyed Gospel singings. He also loved Lake days, fishing and fellowshipping with friends as well as camping and vintage automobiles

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, 10:00-10:50 am in the Chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary. Following will be the service at 11:00 am in the chapel with Pastor Henry Montgomery. Graveside services will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Park in Boiling Springs.
