Earl Chesley Brownlee, 84, loving husband of Mildred O’Bryant Brownlee went to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Lakewood Senior Living.
Born April 4, 1938 in Laurens, SC., he was a native of Spartanburg County. He was a son of the late Roy Chesley Brownlee and Edith Hanvey Brownlee Vest. He was known for his sense of humor and his kind nature. He was an incredibly talented singer, who spent many years singing with gospel quartets. He was a devout Christian and was a member of Praise Cathedral Church of God. Mr. Brownlee was a wonderful father, husband, uncle and grandfather. He was an incredibly fine man, who became a friend to anyone he encountered.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by his son, Kenneth Brownlee (Lisa); brother, Keith Brownlee (Larinda); grandchildren, Jennifer McClellan (Allen), Adam Brownlee (Julianna); in-laws, George O’Bryant (Lucille), Jack O’Bryant (Sandra), Doris Elder (Donnie), Angie Newman (Walker) and great-grandchildren, Bray Brownlee, Rocky Brownlee, and Jackson McClellan.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Stephen Gregory Brownlee; sisters, Iris Vest, Ernestine Hand, Brenda Britton and a brother, Michael Brownlee.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Richard Porterfield officiating.
