Diane L. Walker, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 29, 1944, in Chesnee, South Carolina, Diane was a beacon of love and warmth throughout her life, cherished by all who knew her.
Diane was the daughter of Guy and Virgina Finley Lamb, who instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and faith. She dedicated many years of her life serving her community at the Red Rooster Restaurant in Cowpens, where her friendly smile and kind heart made her a beloved figure among customers and colleagues alike. Diane’s commitment to her work was only matched be her devotion to her family and faith. A devout Christian of the Baptist faith, she embodied the spirit of generosity and kindness, often lending a helping hand to those in need.
Diane’s life was shaped by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Reggie Lamb and Sherman Lamb, her loving husband Ray Walker, and her cherished son, Alan Walker. Each of these losses left a profound impact on her life, yet Diane remained a pillar of strength and resilience for her family.
She is lovingly survived by her grandson Daniel Walker (Danielle), along with her devoted daughter-in-law, Lynn Walker, who provided her with the best care. Diane held a special place in her heart for her goddaughter Melissa Stalnaker (Ronny), who brought her immense joy. Additionally, she was a proud great-grandmother to Brooklyn, Jameson, Emma, and Noah, each of whom brought light and laughter to her later years. Diane is also survived by her dear sister Mary Hall (Terry), with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and support.
Diane had a zest for life that was reflected in her passions. She loved shopping and traveling, often sharing stories of her adventures with family and friends. Her laughter and enthusiasm for life were infectious, and she had a unique ability to find joy in the little things.
In her final days, Diane was supported by the compassionate staff at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, a place that provided her comfort and care. In honor of her memory, the family request that any donations be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303, an organization that truly embodied the sprit if the care Diane received.
A funeral service celebrating Diane’s remarkable life will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025 in the chapel of Harris-Nadeau Mortuary with Rev. Randy Shields officiating. Friends, family and all whose lives Diane touched are invited to join in sharing memories and honoring her legacy. Her Internment will follow beside her husband Ray in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Diane Walker will be remembered not only for her love and dedication to her family but also for her unwavering faith and her commitment to serving her community. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and kindness that will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
