Dale Walter Durant

Dale Walter Durant, 86 years, husband of Gail Elizabeth Smith Durant, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Dale was born on January 10, 1935, to the late William Lewis and Angelina St. Onge Durant. At the age of 15, Dale went to work at his father's gas station. By age 18, he and his father were in a partnership in a full service station. Thereafter, Dale took his family on an around the world cruise. Once they returned, he took possession of the service station. However, he would sell and take over an auto parts store. Dale was very much involved with real estate owning multi-family homes for a good many years. After moving to Cape Cod, he worked in the retail grocery business. When he retired, the next 12 years were spent on the road with his wife traveling in their RV and seeing much of this beautiful nation. Dale loved boating and water skiing and always lived on the water.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 14 years, Gail of Chesnee, sons and daughters-in-law; Dale R and Andrea Durant of Chesnee, Daniel R. and Corinne Durant of Conway, New Hampshire, Dean W. and Patricia Durant of Sandwich, Massachusetts, daughter and son-in-law; Cathy and Paul Henrich of Falmouth, Massachusetts, daughter; Lisa Cornish of Brockton, Massachusetts, sister and brother-in-law; Ann C. and Joseph Turner of Norwood, Massachusetts, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Also surviving is former wife and mother of his children, June Durant.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Cherokee Springs United Methodist Church, 2870 Chesnee Highway, Spartanburg, South Carolina, 29307, with Pastor Mason Cantey officiating.
