Charles Odell “Doc” Linder Jr., 86, widower of Frances Cartee Linder, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born August 29, 1936 in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Charles Odell Linder Sr. and Minnie Green Linder. He was retired from Fritz Carter Construction and of the Baptist faith. Doc loved watching John Wayne Movies, fishing, doing word search puzzles and was very much a Jokester.

Surviving are his sons, Douglas Lamar Linder (Amy), Harold Wayne Linder (Diane); daughters, Rhonda Wagner (Smitty), Beverly Pinson-Harris (Clint); sister, Eva Mae Parsons; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;11 great-great-grandchildren and special friends who were like adopted daughters, Brenda Kaye Kelley and Becky Kelley.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by daughters, Cathy Osteen, Patty Laws, Ella Mae Coxey; long time companion, Mildred Ann “Midge” Murray (who passed away March 9, 2019); 6 sisters; 2 brothers; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023 at Rainbow Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Bart Mitchell officiating.
