Uxbridge- Cecile R. (Poulin) Dionne, 87, passed away peacefully at her son’s home in South Carolina on Thurs., Dec. 21, 2023 after period of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Charles A. “Chick” Dionne on March 2, 2022.
She is survived by 3 children, Charles A. Dionne Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Inman, SC, Debra A. Dionne-Pilotte and her husband Robert of Uxbridge, and Mark A. Dionne and his wife Erin of Chesapeake, VA; 12 grandchildren; Lucas, Richard Boisvert and his wife Andrea, Rebecca Pollinger and her husband Nicholas, Matthew Boisvert and his significant other Katie O’Malley, James Bosivert and his wife Erin, Katelyn Carbary and her husband Daniel, Jacob Dionne and his significant other Taylor, Madison, Christian, Jonathan and Morgan; 8 great-grandchildren, Calli, Cody, Aubrey, Landon, Lola, Dante, Jonah, Jadi, and Abagail Elizabeth; and a great-great granddaughter, Milla, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her beloved granddaughter Elizabeth Adams, and 7 siblings, Marie Anne Defond, Dorothy Vincent, and George, Paul, Gerard, Raoul, and Arthur Poulin.
Born in Uxbridge on March 8, 1936 she was the daughter of Joseph and Yvonne (Belval) Poulin and was a lifelong resident of Uxbridge. Cecile was a graduate of Uxbridge High School class of 1953. She worked for many years in health care, caring primarily for the elderly and also providing respite services in her home. She also worked at former Red Rooster as a cook, State Mutual Life Insurance, Stanley Woolen Co., Whitin Machine Works, the Uxbridge Inn and GE Telechron. She was also was involved in the foster care program and fostered over 55 children over the years. A woman of great faith, she was a longtime member of the Good Shepherd Church in Uxbridge where she taught catechism, attended Mass daily, and was a past president of the St. Anne’s Society, and belonged to the Third Order of St. Francis enjoyed working all the church bizzars and making all things religious. Her favorite pastime was making Rosaries and flower baskets/saddles for cemeteries. Where she always said a prayer for the souls that died and their families. She lived the scripture, attended Mass daily, and knew she walked with Jesus.
Cecile’s funeral Mass will be held on Tues., Jan. 2nd at 11AM in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours in Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge will be held prior to mass from 9-10:30 AM. Donation’s in Cecile’s memory may be made to: St. Joseph’s Abbey
