Carol “Ray” Suttles, 80 of Chesnee, SC passed away Monday morning, November 25, 2024, doing what he loved the most, Hunting. 

Ray was born October 26, 1944, in Spartanburg County to the late Roy Lee Suttles and Mollie Suttles Cash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Hughes Suttles, his daughter Regina Kunak, his brothers, Terry Suttles and Roy Suttles, his sisters, Edna “Boot” Black and Elizabeth “Lib” Cash. 

Family members left with cherished memories include His two sons, Donnie Suttles and Ray Lee Suttles of Chesnee, his sister Frankie Tillotson of Chesnee, five grandchildren, Brittany Castruita (Aaron) of North Carolina, Justin Suttles of Travelers Rest, Ollie Suttles of Greenville, Austin Bishop of Chesnee and Brandon Moss of Wellford, five great-grandchildren Bryleigh Castruita, Zaiyden Castruita, Braxton Suttles, Ayden Gowens and Nayla Johnson, his nieces, nephews and brother and sister in laws who loved him dearly and also many friends. He was “Papa” or “Uncle Ray” to everyone.

Ray worked at Roebuck Builders for over 30 years and was a member of Green Point Baptist church where he grew up and made it a family church. Ray was a devoted husband, Dad and Papa and he had the purest heart and would help anyone if they needed it. 

Visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45pm at Green Point Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the church with Dr. David Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
