Billy Banks Martin

Billy B. Martin Gaffney, SC. Billy B. Martin, 76, husband of Edna Adams Martin passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center after a long illness. Born June 6, 1942 in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late Thomas Edward Martin and Lucy Scruggs Martin. Mr. Martin was retired from Duke Power and also the Charles Lea Center. He was an active member of New Pleasant Baptist Church where he was also a former Deacon. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Chris Martin and wife Jennifer of Mayo, Craig Martin and wife Deanna of Gaffney; sisters, Peggy Buchanan of Gaffney, Patsy Reynolds of Gaffney, Freda Dill (Randy) of Anderson, Marsha May of Joplin, MO., grandchildren, David Martin (Nancy), Haley Martin (Matthew), Cam Martin, Travis McSwain (Grace); great-grandchildren, Jackson Martin, Lauren Faith Martin and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Martin, sister, Guynell Martin and brothers-in-law, Luke Reynolds and Seaphus Buchanan. A Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018 at New Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Morris and Rev. Glenn Rusher officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gibbs Cancer Center, 101 E Wood St, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
