James “Bill” Tennyson, 79, husband of Betty Bishop Tennyson passed away, August 16, 2018.
Born December 3, 1938 in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Fred Tennyson and Willie Mae Foster Tennyson. Mr. Tennyson was retired from the grocery business where he worked at several local Grocery Stores. He was currently employed with the Chesnee/Mayo Recycling Center on Sandy Ford Road. He was a very active member of Casey Creek Baptist Church where he was the former Music Director, Church Treasurer, and was a member of the choir among many other things. He was the organizer of the Drayton Reunion and worked the Voting Polls.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Kenneth Lawter and wife Angie of Charleston, Daniel Lawter of TX, Jimmy Tennyson of Chesnee, Chris Tennyson and wife Angie of Chesnee, Lisa Shaine and husband Mickey of Chesnee, Lora Curtis and husband Darrel of Mooresboro, NC; brothers, Leon Tennyson of Spartanburg, Sam Tennyson of Florence, Bob Tennyson of Spartanburg; sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Spartanburg, Joyce Parris of Drayton, Lib Dover of Spartanburg; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by is siblings, Harold, Red, Joe and Doris.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Harris-Nadeau Mortuary.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Casey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Adkins and Dr. Jerry White officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
