Betty Jean Bishop Tennyson, 88, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 9, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.
Born March 26, 1934 in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Bishop and Annie Cabaness Bishop. She was first married to the late Roy Lawter and secondly to the late James Tennyson. She was formerly employed with Mayfair Mills and was also a Hairdresser and an Avon Representative. She was a member of Casey Creek Baptist Church where she was a former member of the Casey Creek Trio.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth Lawter (Angie) of Goose Creek, SC., Daniel Lawter of Houston, TX., Lisa Shaine (Mickey) of Chesnee, Lora Curtis (Darrel) of Mooresboro, NC., Jimmy Tennyson (Stephanie) of Chesnee, Chris Tennyson (Angie) of Chesnee; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Iva Lawter and eight brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Casey Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Todd Lyda and Dr. Jerry C. White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Casey Creek Baptist, 1199 Casey Creek Road, Chesnee, SC 29323.
