Betty Waters Cudd, 90, widow of R.C. Cudd went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 7, 2022 at White Oak Estates. 

Born April 19, 1931 in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Leroy Waters and Nellie Ruth Powell Waters. She was retired from Security Finance Home Office in Spartanburg and was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church where she was very active in the Women’s Missionary Union and the Choir. 

Betty was known by her family as Gaga or “909”. To the Chesnee Community, she was commonly referred to as “Mrs. Wiggles” because of her service to the children’s ministry called “Wiggle Time”. She dearly loved her church family and all of her “Wigglers”. She also traveled around to many different schools as the Easter Bunny to tell the Easter Story. 

Surviving is her daughter Bonnie Towery and husband Chuck of Chesnee; grandchildren, Sarah Towery of Chesnee, Rory Towery and wife Katie of Boiling Springs; great-grandson, Ross Cooper Towery; sister, Nancy Lowe and husband Maurice of Chesnee; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Hood Waters of Spartanburg. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Waters and a brother, John Carl Waters. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Chesnee First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Dr. Gary J. Grogan officiating. A private family burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, C/O Chesnee First Baptist Church, 211 S. Kentucky Ave. Chesnee, SC 29323.
